Ok, here's the skinny... you can submit right away to ngc after you get an ANA membership. All you need to do is put your ANA member number on the ngc membership form and voila!... I even had the customer service rep email me an ngc form. WE CAN SUBMIT RIGHT AWAY Kairu! Also called pcgs and was told that YES the RP will get a standard first strike label and that the cutoff will be posted on their website as soon as they figure it out (usually 1 month from release after calculating shipping times)

Cutoff for PCGS is July 31 it was on the site yesterday I saw. But that is cool that we can submit right away I will ponder further after I figure out how much it would be to send to PCGS via dealer. Thanks for the info Cascade!

Plus kairu, for me I wouldn't want a middle man. With this one I'd want it to go straight from me to TPG and back personally

The only thing that bothers me is the five coin minimum. I don't have five sets anymore and any coin worth sending are in my albums... I emailed them to ask about that minimum for these sets but we will see. With five coins (two RP and three random moderns) total would be about $123 for NGC and for two coins PCGS it would be about $72 I was told. Plus NGC seems to be faster at the grading and getting the coin back and also seem to grade a little more leniently... And I would be able to send them directly and the $30 would be for a years worth so the next batch of Ike dollars for five RPs would be $108. Well seems I am sold just need to get the wife on board and hear about the coin minimum. Thanks for your help guys! :D

Well just got a reply. If less than 5 coins will need to be the Early Bird Tier which is $30 per coin... so for two coins would come to $108 or throw in 3 other random moderns for $123. Think I will have to do that then since I do actually have some REALLY nice State Quarters from the UNC sets I got a couple months ago. After talking to the Mrs. of course ;)

You forgot the RP Roosevelt dimes and/or the Enhanced Uncirculated Native American dollar..... Btw, if you are getting the $149 standard member ship with NGC, they will give you $149 in grading-fee credit to use and get your coin graded. So basically you are committed to spend that $149 toward grading fee (not shipping charge) then you get your membership free. NGC modern coin grading fee is $15/coin. So you have 1 yr to submit 10 modern coins to use up the $150 credit. This way you don't have to contribute $30 to ANA membership (note: ANA membership does have its advantages/benefits).

I bet on the wrong horse with my 10 MOD sets and only 1 Truman C & C set.
I am in for the max household limit for the the rest of the RP C & C sets.

There seems to be a merging of the comments regarding PCGS and NGC with terms and grading fees intermixed. I have been using both for MANY years and it boggles even my previously confident mind when I read it. Maybe I can simplify SOME of it... 1) "Cut off dates" were mentioned but the fees mentioned that following are for non-FS or ER submissions so the date is irrelevant if you do not want either label. 2) If you are submitting for eventual resale (maybe years from now) then go for the FS or ER labels (First Strike= PCGS, Early Release=NGC) 3) PCGS costs $39 to join; PCGS costs $69...both are basic memberships for any submissions (what I have) 4) PCGS may cost $15/coin but it also costs $18 more for each FS and you get a regular FS label ...NGC costs $20/coin and this INCLUDES Early Release and a dedicated Presidential label Fact: YOU may not believe in the label but other collectors DO... 5) yes there is a 5 coin minimum but 5 x $20 is less than $149 to get your "free" submissions (add the $39 and you are still $10 ahead) 6) Quote:Plus kairu, for me I wouldn't want a middle man. With this one I'd want it to go straight from me to TPG and back personally ....totally agree 7) Quote: since I do actually have some REALLY nice State Quarters from the UNC sets I got a couple months ago. ....unless those are EXTREMELY nice coins then it will not be a cost effective addition. The non-silver sets usually do not grade well, but maybe you have some exceptions..usually cheaper just to buy them on the open market...even the Proof silver quarters can be had for less than $100 FOR ALL 5! 8) if you are REALLY against FS or ER then just wait until you get the next sets and reach your minimum coins for submission. No rush if you don't believe in them (but they ARE worth it ) IMHO....

Thanks FOX! I was just about to comment what I was told yesterday by pcgs about the $18 freakin dollars extra just for a plain FS label. I'm close to pcgs but with the extra cost plus plain label I may just have to go ngc? I think I may like My trumans in white slabs with pres labels than pcgs anyway.?... but now I have to send a Truman through error service which pcgs will FS label, not sure if ngc will FS label an error too but probably. I'll have to call em back

Like mentioned in the Truman set thread, I will probably not get the Truman graded yet. Since MCM now has graded 69s for $199, after grading fees the value only increases by $20 at best... So I am waiting to see how this plays out and see if it would be more worth it for the other RPs in the future. Also yeah the 5 coin minimum too... I figured if I was grading them to put in the State Quarters since the difference between 5 modern and just 2 Truman RPs at the higher rate is $15 so might as well get them graded at $5 per coin. And yes a few of them are the nicest quarters I have ever seen I can't see any marks, lines whatsoever. But if I do grade in the future I would be going with NGC. Thanks for the breakdown Fox!

Look down this forum page. It's a minor debris Strikethrough but an error nonetheless!
Ps cory, you can click on a members name and see which threads they're posting on too
