It may be an awful counterfeit but people bid based on emotions and forget common sense and due diligence. Crazy!

Can someone post a picture of it here? When I click the links the items do not come up and then the new link that is provided just brings me to the ebay search page with a ton of Gold eagles for sale. This stuff is getting scary man, everyday they are getting better and better with the fakes.

If they are showing up on ebay you can pretty much bet they are readily available to flood the market. Buyers should always do due diligence...whether it's at their local coin shows, coin shops and especially online. Most important rules are to know what you are buying and who you are buying it from.

It's noteworthy to point out the contents of a notice that NGC posted back in 2008. Per NGC a genuine NGC slab must have a hyphen with both of its edges angled to the right per the following comparative shots prepared by NGC: Here's the featured ebay slab in this thread: Because of the lack of right side hyphen spacing its anyone's guess what this hyphen's entire shape truly appears like.

Isn't the fact that it looks like a proof, but is graded as mint state what most people would call a clue? Also, the coin looks nothing like the one real one show for that certification number on NGC's website. It's just hard to believe that people would bid that kind of money for something that's so obviously fake. http://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/i...=2639939-009
