In keeping with my moniker, here is one of my favorites: a $20 small size national from the Yakima First National Bank, charter 3355. It was my first note from my old hometown.

I'll add three of my favorite obsolete notes to the mix. These are all from my home county (Washtenaw) in Michigan.

GregAlex, I have always ben somewhat envious of those who reside in states that had banks which issued obsolete notes. None exist for Washington State as best as I can tell.

Great! Series 1891 $20 silver certificate. Is that Parker Burke, or Teehee Burke?

Teehee/Burke signatures.

Much scarcer of the blue seal and "double X" overprint variety. Currently 150ish Fr. 322 examples are known in Track & Price compared to over 300 Fr. 321 notes.

I forgot to mention, WheatBack, that is one seriously nice $5 Educational Note you've got there! I can't even imagine how much it must have set you back, but I am very jealous...

I try not to think about it.

Since there are no obsolete banknotes from Washington State, I started collecting depression era scrip from my home state. Here are 2 that are a little unuaual, wooden scrip from Tenino and Willapa Harbor. Now you have to admit, you don't see these every day.

It was still a few hundred dollars. Rare note in any condition -- And I seem to like rags.

Literally living history in your hands. I'm very happy to have a few colonial notes in my collection.
