However, maybe the lighting is different between your particular coin and the reference photo, and maybe it's my imagination, but it does look like the 2 and the 3 on your coin have a ball at the end of the top curl, whereas those on the reference coin end in points. There also seems to be a difference in the length of the point in the middle of the 3.
Is it possible that two different typefaces were used to stamp the date on the dies? Could there be "close 3" and "open 3" varieties?
