Could this be an 1858/7? I see a faint line coming out from the top right of the 2nd 8, but I not sure. The 2nd photo shows the break in the eagle's wing that is one thing to look for. Thanks

Due to the heavy wear on the coin, I believe it is almost impossible to determine from these photos. It does appear to be the large letter variety. The broken wing tip is very common because it is found on many dies for both years, so that doesn't help much. On all the coins I've seen the remnant of the '7' over the last '8' should not touch the '8'. It does appear to do so on your coin. There should be weakness on the tail of the eagle and upper right of the reverse due to skewed dies but due to heavy wear on your coin this may not help. Also, the raised triangular die chip above the 1st 8 should be visible on all die stages even when the '7' is worn away. If you have the coin in hand maybe this will help you make a determination.
