Picked this up today for $30 (seller's photos). I will give it an acetone bath when I get it in hand. AG-3 or can I squeeze a G-4 out of her? Thanks, as always!

It will be hard to squeeze a G-04, I'm at AG-03.
Don't expect to get good results from the acetone bath on this coin.

AG-3. Some G-4 details, but too much of the date and other text are obscured to earn a G-4 grade.

And from what I can see in the photos, there's only a small amount of debris on the obverse - and less on the reverse - that the acetone will remove, so it really won't help very much.

AG-3, lacks too much detail to be a G-04

One key factor for WL half at G-4 is the rim being defined. Given how mushy this one is with a visible date, AG3 will be the best no matter how much acetone you use. :p

Thanks for the replies! I was only looking at the acetone to get rid of the gunk at the top of the obverse on the rim. I figured AG-3, so glad to see that is the consensus. Still happy with it!

I know a lot of people love acetone, but on this half I'd just not use acetone. It won't do much, I don't think, and I avoid doing anything to a coin unless it is really warranted.

But since you own it, that's your choice, of course.

AG-3 A lot of wear into the letters. Honest wear.
