Nice design indeed. And 1978 makes you two years younger than my youngest son

Hello, I am a new member of this group. I have enjoyed reading your post and thought that you might have some information for me. I have a 1989 silver 25th anniversary souvenir dollar. I could not find anything about it online. Thank you.

Mr. Davy

You may want to directly email nalaberong about this one if he does not answer soon. Just click on his name and take the link. He is the most knowledgeable about these of anyone I have seen.

Very cool looking coin - especially in silver!

Very cool, love seeing these pieces of Alberta memorabilia on here. I've got one, a 1998

Jasper is a beautiful place, I'd like to get back out there this year.

Is the piece indicated as silver? It celebrates the 25th anniversary of skiiing Jasper's Marmot Basin. There were 25,000 issued in nickel bonded steel, 26 in silver and 5 in gold. The silver should weigh 17g compared to the NBS which is 12.9g.

Maybe I jumped the gun in assuming it was silver. I assumed it was the original packaging and so was one of the better coins. I know when I bought my nickel ones, they were in a small wicker basket beside the cash register in little plastic, see through envelope (the first one) or a plastic airtight-like container when I bought the second one while visiting there.

Yes it is silver. Only 26 were made, that is great news. Thanks for all the info.

Very nice! I would love to see one of these in person. Do you mind me asking how you got this one? Great find!

It was a gift. The person that gave it to me purchased it in Jasper.

I agree that this is a interesting post.

I like knowing more about coins and tokens I might come across.

@Mr Davy
Well congratulations on having such a nice gift given to you. Is the top of the box it came in blank, or is there some sort of Jasper logo? Truly amazing Jasper dollar - thanks for sharing.
