I have a Japanese silver one yen coin that has a French engraving done in Foo Chow, China in 1875. Could someone please help me with the translation? The punctuation marks below should be over the e's in both cases and represent an acute accent.
Hi everyone, thanks for your input and greetings. I especially like the "emeritus" reference. One dilemma is that the French word for "military" is militaires. "Miliaris" appears to be untranslatable in French and the latin definition doesn't seem appropriate.
