One of mine has that slightly shiny circle above the 1 also. I'm guessing it's a polish mark on the die after the final rp finish treatment

The two sets I have so far have no visible doubling...and...my previously backordered sets shipped yesterday

Sounds like the Mint is seeing plenty of returns. Bummer.

Just got mine yesterday, but didn't look for doubling yet. I'll do that tonight and post pics if I see some doubling.

As I said yesterday, I got my set. However, we had company for dinner and I only got to look at it for about two minutes before bed. I did not see any doubling or other issues. If anything my dollar looks perfect compared to the previous ones (still not going to get it graded). My vision gets iffy in the evenings so I plan to look closer this afternoon. One problem I had, and it really scared me, was that the box rattled! I opened it fearing the worst, but found the medal capsule was a little loose, just enough for the medal to wiggle. Funny, it was louder in the box than in hand! More than half-way there! Just Johnson and Reagan to go.

I find this reverse proof to be especially well done.
The reflectivity of the proof surfaces, on mine at least, seems a little more subdued than those previous. This makes the details of Kennedy and the State of Liberty easier to see.
Also, the accompanying booklet on his life seems thicker than past issues. It makes for an interesting read.

I like the hair. Is that weird lol
And I must say that a couple of my medals might be 70s. Which surprises me with the amount of field surface. And the leathery look to the fields is nice. I also have some strange and strong flat field doubling going with the lettering

Not looking like a sell-out this week. I still think it will eventually.

Yeah, I agree. There's probably just too many returns / canceled orders to make a significant net gain in sales.

Does anyone know if the backorder sets will be shipped in time for first strike?

Originally, the backorder date was 10/15 but they moved it to 9/28. It's going to be close.
