I have been very happy with all the medals in these sets. No milk spots, marks, scratches. In fact, they are my favorite part of the sets. That is not what I was expecting when I purchased the first set.

They may not be perfect by some definitions, but I have no issues with any of the C&C medals nor the RP dollars.

Nice to see the 2015 Coin & Chronicles Set - John F. Kennedy is sold out. Interestingly, the 2014 Coin & Chronicles Set - Franklin D. Roosevelt is still available.

That is because his portrait is odd on it. He looks like he just saw a harshly cleaned 1909S VDB.

Quote: That is because his portrait is odd on it. Maybe...and add the fact that the coin included has a mintage of 1.4 million vs 17/25/50k

Despite having two extra lumps of metal and three extra stamps, its popularity hindered by the lack of a low mintage dollar that was exclusive to the set. Now, go back in time... make the dollar reverse proof and throw a W on that dime.

If this trend continues for a couple years, we may be back down to a total mintage of 25,000. All we need is a change in the mints return policy.

I think some of the returns are related to the poor quality of the coins. I was watching a DVR'd recording of the coin show on HSN last night. The guy talked about the poor quality of the coins compared to the other presidential reverse proof and even pointed to the same spot on the reverse of the coin that's buggered up on both of mine.

Quote: I think some of the returns are related to the poor quality of the coins. My Kennedy buck$ were good but my medals were full of milky spots. I was considering returning for quality issues, but it's also been reasoned that a lot of speculators returned when it was clear that there was no (or little) money to be made on flipping.

I agree, but the Eisenhowers were by far the worst. Just look at the NGC grading census to see for yourself. Granted, Kennedy numbers still don't look that great though, and I'm sure a lot of people didn't submit theirs due to quality issues, so these are the best that are likely submitted. Truman RP: 88 PF70s out of 1459 submissions (6.0315%) and 39 graded PF68 or lower (2.6731%) Eisenhower RP: 10 PF70s out of 1089 submissions (0.9183%) and 138 graded PF68 or lower (12.6722%) Kennedy RP: 65 PF70s out of 1725 submissions (3.7681%) and 26 graded PF68 or lower (1.5072%)

Thanks for posting that information. I was wondering how the NGC census was running on these.
