A long time ago when I started cutting coins there was a discussion on CCF about spooning rings.. it was decided that you could only spoon silver.. well I think I have finally been able to make a ring out of a Clad coin.. this is a 1973 Kennedy. Its far from perfect but its my first attempt at a non silver ring..
the trick is patience and lots of annealing..

Really nice!
I tried a clad half and it developed cracks. If I may ask, at what temperature do you prefer?
Rest in Peace

smooth the hole before you start shaping and periodically smooth again. Temp I don't know but I heat to a light orange colour the devices look white then quench. Light blow with the hammer and regular annealing about every ten to fifteen blows.
