Look at any Proof cleaned with a brush under a Halogene light and you'll see at least hair line scratches. You'll be able to see them with just your eye too.

Pending on the value of the coins in most instances of low valued coins it would be smarter to just look for new ones.

I have never brushed my coins before, the most I have done to a coin is to soap them (it's a nickel dollar, which is the only type of metal I would dare wash like that). A smarter thing to do than your brushing of coins. You may not be able to see the hairlines, but they are there.

Sure, harshly cleaned coins will have a "brilliant" reflective look to them, which is the point of people scrubbing them in the first place.
