I've had an account at this bank for 28 years. Twice I asked for, and got, 10 rolls of Jeffersons. The third time the teller said, "Is this for a business" and I told her that no, I was a coin collector.
She said, well our business customers who pick up rolls reguarly pay a fee for this, and they tell us in advance how many rolls they want, etc.
In short she would "probably" have to charge me a fee, and let her know in advance how many rolls I wanted...
I've searched bank rolls for years and never ran into this. Have you? Thanks...

The bank I've used for over 30 years refused to give (sell) me a roll of quarters. They only do it for businesses that pay $30 a month to have an account there. They were pretty snotty about it and because of their rudeness my husband and I moved so much money to another bank that they became concerned and called us at home -- more than a few times.
It seems that banks don't want to be bothered with money anymore.

I'd find a bank that is nicer and close your account with the mean bank.

Speak to the vault teller in charge of ordering coin. If they don't budge, find a new bank, there are many to choose from. 28 years as a customer doesn't mean much anymore to the greedy banks.

Just say, "I'm letting you profit off my money by putting it in your bank so you can invest it in whatever ways you want. (Why banks credit interest) You can at least let me buy a few rolls of coins with out charge in return."

I have walked into a Bank of America and just bought a few rolls of each type coin, and they don't offer "services" to non-account holders. You mean you found a bank WORSE than BoA?

Handling coins is not free (or cheap). Banks know this, so they have started to charge fees.
The CRH free ride has been coming to a slow end the for a while now.
As recommended above, vote with you feet. Pull your accounts and find another bank, although the choices are becoming fewer.

I have ordered up to 100 dollars in cents and have had no problems with the bank.

Maybe if you offer to rent an armored car and pick up their change every week for free?

I've had the "is this for a business" question pulled on me at Bank of America a few times. Even though I've truthfully answered "no", they haven't ever refused me. I generally avoid that branch now anyway and go to one just a little further away and they don't blink an eye when I ask for boxes.

After a year or more of searching halves each week the bank I was using said they had to start charging. When I started at that bank I told them exactly what I was doing. It worked out well for quite awhile. They were my pickup and dump bank. I made some good friends there.

I walked into a bank in Des Moines once and asked for $50.00 worth of pennies. The teller told me she had to charge me a $0.30 per roll rolling fee. I told her that I didn't need them rolled, loose would be fine and she told me they couldn't let them out that way. Banks don't care about you no matter how long you have been a customer. Find a friendlier bank.

"Is this for a business?""Yes it is." "What is the name of your business?""Nunya." Regardless, if you meet resistance, move on. If you continue to meet resistance, retire from CRH.

I ran into that, too. I answered:
"Is this for a business?"
"Yes it is."
"What is your business?"
"It's home-based"
She did not let me get the rolls. It's now a dump branch.
