Any Thoughts On This 1989 P Dime? Simply Rim Damage Or Cud?

Here is my latest find and would love to know your thoughts simply to learn more on the topic of errors.....Is this a die crack between the B and E? Rim damage or clogged die as well? Or simply a Cud (looks as if Cud at certain angles under magnification). As usual, I greatly appreciate any and all thoughts, info and/or advice. Thanks! From a newbie eager to learn.... Agrippa Pillar of the Community United States 663 Posts	Posted 09/14/2015 02:09 am Not a Cud. Is the mark you are seeing between the "B" and "E" incuse or raised? It's definitely a VLDS ({very late die state) coin. This means that the dies used to make the coin were very used and worn. You can tell by all of the lines (striations) on the coin. This also causes distortion of the devices (letters, date, etc). Report this Post to the Staff

That results in a poorly defined design rim and a tall edge with strong reeding. The narrow gouge is either pre-strike damage or post-strike damage. Can't tell from here.
