I have no knowledge of strike characteristics on these so I am going to say the flatness, along with the many hairline scratches, is wear . Nice looking coin with just enough wear to keep it below AU, I would say XF-45. Report this Post to the Staff

halfabustisbetter Pillar of the Community United States 1984 Posts	Posted 01/12/2008 11:35 pm I don't know what it was a few years ago, but by today's standards it's probably a low AU--the hit on the reverse might still keep it down in a magical place I call "The Land of the Extra Fine 48 Coin." It has very nice original surfaces with quite a bit of remaining luster. MountainXBGL, if your friend can get MS-63 Dahlonega gold for $2500, I'd sure like to find out where he shops! MountainXBGL Valued Member United States 140 Posts	Posted 01/13/2008 6:40 pm I wish I had his excel sheet of gold coins to show you guys...saying it is impressive is a major understatement....He has probably somewhere near 200 pieces of gold...He only needs 1 more Dahlonega piece to have the entire set. He bought 2 coins when he bought the '53...dont remember the other date but he gave 5K for both coins. Report this Post to the Staff
