Does it depend on the potential value/condition of the coin in question or don't these products fall into that philosophy, i.e., don't clean anything. Report this Post to the Staff
John1 Moderator United States 56855 Posts	Posted 09/22/2015 12:06 pm I think that cleaning and conserving is two different things. Acetone conserves as does VerdiCare. Cleaning would be anything that is "harsh" on the coin like an acid dip or baking soda kind of thing.Value of the coin should be considered,a high dollar coin should be "conserved" by a professional. Slamnbass Pillar of the Community United States 3644 Posts	Posted 09/22/2015 12:38 pm I've used acetone before but personally have not used it on any coins sent in for grading but from what I understand it does not in any way effect the coin in this way...the only caveat being if the coin was cleaned prior and the acetone by removing old debris reveals this prior cleaning also don't rub the coin with anything let the acetone evaporate when you remove the coin-and thanks for the replies!
