Boe Countermark On A 4 Reale - Coin Community Forum

eastrockcoins New Member United States 20 Posts	Posted 09/22/2015 9:32 pm Not sure if I should post this here or in the world section, but below are some images of a 1794 regal 4 reale with a Bank of England oval countermark. According to H.E. Manville's 2000 article "The Bank of England Countermarked Dollars 1797-1804", published in the Journal of the British Numismatic Society, these marks are normally found on 8 reale pieces, but in 1799 the BOE marked a delivery of 4 reales from Madrid and Seville. I have started collected these countermarks on 8 reales, and this is my first 4 reale. I would love to know if anyone else has a similar 4 reale piece. I would also love to know if there are any more recent or more comprehensive articles on these pieces. Thanks! Report this Post to the Staff
