ok,let me try to explain,my wife loves owls so I started my hunt for the 2011 coin with the owl, long story short I found a bunch on ebay and I won an auction cheap,$98 for a $600 coin, stranger things have happened, received the coin and no surprise it's a fake.now here is my problem,i emailed the seller and he first offered me a $10 refund,I told him no that I would file a claim with ebay and pp.He then emailed me and told me he refunded my $98 and to keep the coin and leave him good feed back! so now what do I do with the coin?if I keep it I feel like a dirt bag but I don't want to ship it back over seas on my dime so he can resell it as a real coin to someone else?

Destroy it. Or stamp copy on it and keep it. I have a few fakes in my collection for reference

I would leave negative feedback "Sold me a fake coin but did refund money Sounds like the seller knew good & well it was a fake. Other buyers should be warned & told the facts

I agree with jasper. He sold you an illegal counterfit and wants to keep doing it. Fry him

When your sure the $98 refund is back in your account ;keep the coin as a conversation piece , then nail his backside to the wall with a bad review. I'm sorry to all CCF members who sell on e-bay ,but this seller knew darn well he was scamming OP. Must account for his bad behavior .

Keep the coin and start a sub collections of counterfeit coins. Just make sure you label it and keep it far away from authentic coins.
And don't be afraid to leave negative feedback for the seller. Do you have a link to the past auction? The seller may have inadvertently sold a counterfeit, but "overseas" is usually a huge red flag for me to stay far far away.

Give him a neutral and write: would have been a good deal if not COUNTERFEIT" and move on. People look at neutrals just as much as negatives and if you negative him he'll do the same to you and ruin your 100% rating. And your wife will still love the owl.

Sellers cannot leave negative feedback. They can respond to feedback left for them. I would also make sure the refund is in the bank and then leave negative feedback. This seller knew exactly what they were selling. Must be stopped.

Don;t feel guilty about hampering more fraud. Have Bobby submit the actual emails and help you report the entire issue to ebay so they might block this seller's account totally.

Let's just say you had a legit $600 coin... and let's just say for what ever reason at auction on ebay it sells for $100... would you be reluctant to let it go? Perhaps say that the item was no longer in stock? Sellers HAVE done that in the past.. That should've been the 1st red flag.... Then the seller wants to negotiate the return...?!?! second red flag.. Now you have received a full refund and the seller doesn't want to pay the return shipping.?!?!? I tell you if I had a $600 coin it only sold for $100 and the buyer didn't like it.. I would be happy to give a full refund and what ever return shipping was to get it back! Of course this was a fake!! And it's obvious they knew it! Don't return the coin! it's a fake and you know it... returning would only put it back on the market! Destroy or stamp copy into the coin... that's the first thing to do that's right! After that... you need to leave correct feedback! You need to let other potential buyers KNOW that this guy has and probably will sell fakes!

Yes, negative feedback stating the seller knowingly sold a fake coin after your refund is intact. These dirt bags need to be stomped out.

I would destroy it or carve some mark in it so no one at any point in the future will get burned by it. Neutral or negative feedback clearly stating what happened is appropriate in my opinion.
