I'm not sure what I will officially name him yet. I'm tentatively calling it "The Brain Ike". But don't you guys think he looks like Dr. Finkelstein from Nightmare Before Christmas... (Not what I'm gonna name him but the similarities are crazy right)

I guess finding a similarly placed error on a Kennedy half would be considered politically incorrect?

I got the Jpproval. Now if only it had a hooked nose, then it would be a Jzombuck!

Cascade - notice it took JBuck half a day to reply? That's because his first seventeen tries kept coming out "I want, I hate you, you suck"...
Seriously, way cool - love the dual slab box presentation!

I'm sure the Jdar was just a bit fuzzy due to Joaquin I know you've seen alot of coins Burton. How does this one stack up to you in the pantheon of errors? My thoughts are that ikes are poised to be the next morgans to an extent. Imagine what the price tag would be today of a similar type error on a morgan. Like the broken cc or a major planchet defect.

That is a REALLY cool error! I think that it would look better in a double slab though.

I was looking at that one and I think I even threw a smaller bid at it so I could be reminded when it was up for auction. Something happened at work and I wasn't able to get on and keep bidding. Nice pick up though.
As for Ike's ever gaining in popularity. I really don't think they will. You can't compare them to a morgan. Morgans at least have a beautiful image on them and have silver content. Ike Is just a lightbulb on a big clad coin. If I'm wrong I have thousands of them in my safe, but I thinks Ike's always will be a niche type item. I saw boxes of blue and brown ikes for sale at every table the last coin show I was at. I don't think I saw one person walking away with them. The one dealer I know has hundreds of brown box sitting in his back room because they were colleting dust and taking up space in his cases. I think he said my price was like $8 a piece for as many as I wanted. If they were poised to jump soon I would think someone would be grabbing them up right now. People are still ignoring them though, at least around here.

I haven't seen that many errors. I've taken advantage of a couple of the big shows to look at Jon and Fred's cases.
Either piece alone would be awesome. Together it's like I don't know awesome squared or something.
You have to figure they were in a bag together when they came from the mint and somebody pulled the two pieces. That's the eureka moment!
The only thing I might consider is sending them in to be Reslabbed in the double holder. That would probably double the coolness again.

I love the way the image is ghosted through the fragment, creating a reverse image on the reverse of it.
