*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***So I just found out that the 1991 25 cent piece is relatively rare all things considered and shortly after managed to pick up a 1991 Specimen set at what I thought was a good price (about half of retail - under $20). Now if I wish to try and resell this is it better to do as is or is it better to break the set apart and sell the coins individually? I'm new to the selling aspect and just about to dip my toes in the ebay as it were.

For the specimen sets it's better to keep them intact.

the other coins don't really have much premium, or to say much demand, so trying to sell them separate would be difficult

I'm a purist...
that being said, I would think that keeping them together is your best bet at the best return on your money.

Rolls of the "circulation" type sells for about $500 CA on ebay , just looking at some sold prices. Not my thing but wish I had of bought like 50 rolls in 1991...

I don't think you could have bought 50 rolls in 91. I doubt they had OBW of each year especially for 91 (the mint was on strike, hence the low mintage)you would have had to roll search to find them, and you would have had a lot of other collectors doing the same thing.
you may have been lucky to pull a roll with much searching, but not 50.

I had a box of 10 rolls, that I sold about 3 years ago...

400,000 mintage is not really rare, but I remember rolls were auctioned last year for around 400 to 500

Wow that 50 cent piece sure stands out, it's really too bad they never took off as a circulation coins. I just love the coat of arms, a link with our past. I'm glad it's still included in our proof sets!
Great info, as I thought with the strike the proof and specimen variety would also be affected. Now I learned something new today. Information is always good.

Thanks for all the feedback on the subject - interesting. Undecided yet as how to proceed but then again am in no rush. Need to get my act together and start selling stuff on ebay - hopefully will start posting items next week.
