Ordinarily I am not at all impressed by Machine Doubling, it's so common, but this one caught my attention. Interestingly, it only affects the date and no other devices.  |

Dang that is some serious Machine Doubling! If you were to just base it off the 5 it would look like a Doubled die but the 1 is an obvious marker of the Machine Doubling. Great example and definitely 2x2 worthy! |

Here is a pic of the entire obverse. Really, the only other anomaly is a die chip on the lower loop of the B in Liberty.  |

Oh wow. I knew they say Machine Doubling isn't worth much, but I know I would buy it just because of how dramatic it is. Awesome find! |

Perhaps the height (or depth) of a device is more susceptible to the movement thus leaving other devices/features alone. Just thinking.

 with Rackster. I read that is why so many mintmarks have Strike Doubling and nothing else does. They are usually the last point of contact with the die. |
