Yes, why? Surely someone found an 1881.

I sent out a few messages to people who posted them, but haven't heard back. We might have to hunt down a picture to get this thread moving again.

Finn - not a bad idea. Maybe if we get stuck on a date but can find and link a thread to a subject coin, then we satisfy the requirement (roll find, or by other means other than a purchase, e.g. metal detecting, from spare change, etc.).
Your thread so your requirements to modify if you so choose.

Here we go: https://goccf.com/t/135833#135833User owassokie found this in 2012: Quote: I have a new favorite find to report, and this may be my most valuable single coin find. I was going through a box of dimes. I was just edge searching as I usually do with dimes but I noticed a coin that didn't have any ridges/reeds so I checked it. To my surprise I saw U. S. of A. on the obverse and then 1881. Flipped it over and saw the III. I figured it to be a 3 cent coin but to be honest, I wasn't certain what it was until I looked in the Red Book. I had no idea it was the same size a dime. I'm glad it is! What a find!

Yes! We are rolling again. I will change the date later today since I doubt any more 1881 will show.

Alright!! Glad this is moving on to 1880! 1881 is a "key date", apparently, for roll searching.

Quote: I sent out a few messages to people who posted them, but haven't heard back I had done the same last month but only one reply came back and CoinCbass didn't have a picture of a 1881-P Morgan he found, just mentioned he had gotten one at the bank one day in one of his posts but he gave me permission to use a photo if he had actually posted one. owassokie never got back to me either. People are busy, all we can do is ask them to help. This might be a necessity going forward but I prefer a moderator or someone with a bit more time on the boards like Finn235 to do the contacting. Do we need the original posters permission or do we consider what we find posted on CCF fair game for reposting?

Just my opinion, but I am okay with posting a link to the original thread and a quote as was done above.
