Due to the quality of the pic, I can see why you might think that, but in-hand it looks different than the hundreds of lamination errors I have run across. There is no gap under the area that looks like a "crack". The area in question is all raised above the surface of the coin. Sorry for the misleading photos...

It's always hard to be 100% sure looking at a photo verses having the coin in hand, but I think it is extra metal.

As SSK says it sure looks like a lam. Do you think its a Retained Cud then because its raised ? do Cuds have that much detail on them ?

I'd agree with a lamination error, also I'm not sure how it would be extra metal.

As a last resort, if you don't agree with a lam error, I would say that there is a possibility that this is a bi-level die crack.

Maybe a "retained" struck through?

Yeah, I was umming and arring between a retained struck though and bi-level die crack.

One can only speculate..

If it is a Struck through extra metal, then it should weigh a bit more than normal. If the weight is normal then it would be a lamination. But I'm thinking the weight will be over normal, a bit.

I think I'm about ready to give up on this coin... it weighs in at 2.9 grams. Arggghhhh.

So it's underweight? If the weights fluctuated back then, it still could be either, but if not then I don't know where to start.. Square 1 again maybe haha

There is a clear line on the obverse portion of the rim which continues the "crack" around the perimeter of the feature. This suggests to me that it is a rim break with a rim-to-rim die crack with some vertical displacement.
