paralyse, thank you for the summation. That 'Abe' coulda fooled me. Upon closer examination I see some small details that look odd. Could you and/or 52Raymo elaborate on what either of you see? I see a slight variation in the ear and neck-hairline. If I was looking at this raw I would think 'die differences'. If I was carefully looking at it, while holding it by the edges, maybe more would be apparent. This one is worrisome to me. OK, scarier than Halloween.

For the US coins, besides the Seated $1 being an obvious fake, they all look okay to me a first glance. The Lincoln 50c has been polished 1893 P looks like a nice XF The 28 Peace is a nice coin, mid to high AU. Nice coins to inherit! No comment on the Chinese dollar.

Simcha6: All I can say is that a lot of the previous posters have studied these coins day in and day out. Some of the forum members here are the very same as the authors of the numismatic books and articles you would read if you read up on coins.
I would recommend that since there is more than one person scrutinizing these coins, it may be best to weigh them, and test them to make sure they're not fakes. At least that way if you ever decide to sell you'll KNOW for sure these aren't fakes and you're not commiting a crime.
We're all just here to help.

Can I talk about the elephant in the room? These are all modern day cast copies that are easily found on the site we do not talk about.
I would like to know when these coins were actually collected by the person who left them as an inheritance. Did they just get into coin collecting before their departure and they happened to have purchased all fake coins?
Interesting to say the least.
@slider - they're all fake.

dsfree Quote: These are all modern day cast copies You really think the '28 is a modern fake? I would be floored. Could you do me and the others who think it's real a favor and post a picture of that coin available on the no-no site.

Parklane...I can't match up the 1918 with a fake but at the very least it's been polished and then they tried to retone it.

This is available on web site (I'm not sure if it's the no-no site or not because I'm sorta new around here) that has lots of good date "souvenirs". They can be had in packs of 2 for just over five bucks.

nice bunch of coins, though as previously mentioned, many of them are fake. Love the Peace dollar though :)

I do not think the 28 is fake, having seen many of them -- would it be possible to get a close up of the mint mark?
The commemorative, and the Chinese coin, I don't know. The rest I stand by my assertion: 100% forgery

The Lincoln Commemorative has the typical artificial toning/appearance that the modern Chinese counterfeits have. The Seated dollar and Trade dollar are definitely counterfeits and the other coins look suspect. This is really sad. I have no doubt that many average collectors would fall for these.

paralyse: the 1928 shouldn't have a mintmark. As for the rest, I agree on the verdict. Although the '28 looks good, I am suspicious considering it is mixed in with so many fakes.

I meant the area where the mint mark would have been (to check for a removed S mint) - sorry
