This was sold as a 'normal' 1886 and I'm fairly sure it's a type 2.

Firstly am I correct, and secondly what are your thought re the grade?

The way I determine a T1 from a T2 is the location of the last feather on the head-dress. On a T1 the feather points between the IC of America. On the T2 the feather points between the CA of America. Also, on a T1 the radius formed where the swirls or hair ends lies closer to the A than the 6 and on the T2 the hair tuft is equally spaced between the A and the 6.

Your coin is a T2 and I would grade the coin G4 (there are a lot of nicks and dings).

Thanks all, I was very pleased that I managed to correctly identify the variety.
