So I'm sitting here, ON VACATION, in Clearwater Beach FL waiting for the opening of the biggest baseball tournament of my life on Monday at 10AM at Brighthouse Stadium.

View from where I'm sitting...
I'm-Done.

What am I doing? The normal 4-6 hours A DAY I spend trying to rid the hobby of counterfeits. I get about 50 counterfeits a day taken down, I'm not paid for this and neither is the guy that I report to. He spends even more time on this than I do. But apparently, the people that seem to know how to run this forum better than me, feel the need to try and publicly embarrass me for my efforts when one stinkin' auction slips through the cracks and doesn't get taken down. (Note: It was my fault, the email was never sent, I found it saved as a draft. Sue me.)

I take a break and check some emails and I have 3 new (about 20 so far total over several weeks) emails saying if the constant posting of ebay counterfeits doesn't stop they may find another forum. (I *think* I've appeased everyone.)

I've got teenagers that seem to need their ego stroked so badly that "I'm not allowed" to lock the topics once reported to try to compromise the situation with the members that don't like seeing them at all, which is a lot. Tons of members here couldn't care less about ebay.

So here's the deal. I'm not doing it any more. ebay counterfeit topics will be locked immediately when seen by any moderator. They won't be removed, just locked. Feel free to take time out of your day and report them, I'm not doing it any more.

Rest in Peace

By you, I'm sure, thank you. But certainly not by all obviously.

You have to do what you are comfortable doing and if it is stressful on you then you don't do it.

Bobby,

Appreciate your efforts but it is a battle that cannot be won by you and your ebay contact.

It's ebay's problem and until it starts costing them significant money they won't do anything about it.

Enjoy your well deserved vacation!

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear what you have been going through, but I totally support your decision to not put up with the endless stream of counterfeit threads anymore. You help promote the study and identification of fakes, but I don't remember seeing anywhere that you were the coin police as well.

Have a great vacation; the view looks gorgeous!

Have you not been paying attention the last 8 months? I can get listings taken down most of the time in minutes, so they most definitely are doing something about it. The amount taken down daily by our crew is far from insignificant.

Anybody "threatening" to leave the forum because they do not agree with how it is run are welcome to leave in my book. There is no rule that you have to read every post and agree with everyone. There is no rule that you have to comment when do you not agree with them. How about this naysayers: take from the forum the great educational opportunity here and if you do not like something, do not use it. If you build it they will come, if they do not like it they can leave. They are more than welcome to build their own forum (funding and all).

We all know what ebay is and we have a group trying to chip away and educate people - if you do not agree with it, don't let the door...(hubby says I can't finish that sentence).

Play ball, have a wonderful vacay and use the delete button as much as therapeutically necessary.

Do the very best you can; and then put up your old umbrella and keep the rain of criticism from running down the back of your neck.

Ignore the critics, take a break and enjoy your vacation.

I am sorry for all the stress it has been putting you through... as a young-ish member here I can possibly see how these efforts are looked past and not fully appreciated. But I have definitely learned to appreciate the help I get from all the members here throughout my time here and I wish you the best in your vacation!

I think 99% of us support you here Bobby in your efforts and appreciate all you do. I am a moderator for my city's public facebook page of 12,000 members so I completely understand the BS and personal attacks you're going through.

Just know, we all appreciate what you do, and for those whining about it, they can either contact ebay on their own, or they can buzz off and find another forum. We're family here, not critics of each other.

I read the kids email. As a not young person, my take was his .thread got locked and he did not know why. Probably thinking he was accused of doing something wrong when he thinks he is helping greatly. He lashed out instead of asking, which was not cool. Did he know why the lock was placed?

How is his track record, good enough to hook up directly with your guy?

Lots of threads I don't find interesting, I just don't read them.

Do any of the people asking to stop the fake threads speak Chinese by any chance?

Good luck with the baseball game, I spend a lot of time working with my daughter and softball.

I see this as the sense of entitlement in others weighing heavily down on you. You have volunteered your time and effort endless days to help this community. For that my friend I thank you. I ant control the actions of others if I could I would make sure they gave a well deserved and heart felt apology. What I can do is tell you that at one point I knew very little about numismatics and it was this forum and the people on here that elevated my level of awareness. I have a love for this hobby and this very community because of the sharing of knowledge that goes on here. So much so that I myself am trying to now start up another forum for my other life passion in hopes to build a community such as this one. I never knew how much time you spent trying to help others. I only could've guessed. But Ithere has been many threads probably into the hundreds easily that I may have read ( few did I make a post on as counterfeits are something I am still a novice in) where I felt darn proud as I found out the listing had either been cancelled or closed because of YOU and your efforts. You... You and your efforts in one action not only made one person feel proud of a community that they belong to, but you also prevented a crime from happening and someone getting robbed. Not many people can say they have ever done that and yet you could easily say that you've done that multiple time a day... Many days of the week!

Those that you speak of who have criticized your efforts I would lump them into the same category of people who are quick to criticize their own government but find it too cumbersome to vote or run for public office themselves. (I also believe these people to be the last you could look at for defending the rights and freedoms they are so privelidged to have)
My response to this type of person has always been the same ... "If you don't like the way things are done around here either leave or become part of the change that will make it better"

Personally.... I hope you don't quit this thankless job. But I wouldn't hold it against you if you did. That's one heck of a view you have there. And in this game of life you really only get one "at bat" so go play ball.. Watch for the best pitches and swing for the fences.....

If you do decide to come back... And if you can think of any way I may help.... Please don't hesitate to drop me a line and "put me in the game" I really would be happy to help in any way.. Including and notwithstanding replying to each and every email that criticized your efforts on here and in the community..

You are a good person bobby......thank you
