Quote: A George III halfpenny of the earlier type struck at the Tower Mint. My impression is that the barely visible last digit of the date is (was) a "4" so I'm going with 1774, but my confidence in that aspect of the identification isn't high. Confident or not, it is very nice!

A pair of Barber dimes picked up upon a whim today. The one on the left is (I believe) dated 1892, the other being pretty clearly from 1896. Unfortunately, for each the location where an "O" or "S" mint mark might appear is obliterated, so neither is a candidate to be certified.

Here's a Mexican 1 Peso of a type produced in very large quantities during the period 1920 through 1945. I've seen an awful lot of these over the years, and while this specimen may fall a bit short of qualifying as a true "lowball", it's certainly the most worn example I can recall having coming across.

My favorite lowball find from today, an 1872H Canadian 25 cent piece. With the date being just barely discernable, this certainly couldn't have stood too much more circulation before it would have become unidentifiable in that regard.

Some of these are pretty amazing! I'll have to keep an eye out for lowball coins in junk bins.

Found this slick Lincoln in the "Cyndi Hoard" of wheat cents. Can't read the date.
