Quote: How did those coins possibly get that worn unless they were in circulation well over a century? Pocket pieces.

Here are three cupronickel Hassan II dirhams I got in my change in Morocco a couple years ago. I also have four 1407 (1987) coins, and a 1423 (2002) 2 dirham coin, but they aren't quite as worn as these (approx. VG).

This little guy is so close. There are two date digits visible, but unfortunately they're the wrong two digits. It's an S, and appears to use the small mintmark style (1917-41) but I can't be sure in this state.

Numisma...Very cool Lincoln even if you can't see the date. You don't find them in that condition too often.

This is a cool looking penny. I don't think it is a true lowball since it can't be dated, but as a conversation piece and a piece of numismatic art, this is winner :)

Just curious, why do pocket pieces get worn down to lowball status?

Here is one that I have posted on the Bay. You would not believe how many people send me messages calling me names and stuff saying that NO one pays a premium for coins like this. Oh well, maybe someone on this thread will appreciate this coin. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1902-S-Morg...STRK:MESE:ITI'm not trying to promote or anything so feel free to remove this post if necessary. I just thought it was funny when I came across this thread because yesterday I received one of the aforementioned messages, see below..... "Hello, This coin is a SLUG. The s on back cannot be read and the 1902 on the front is debatable. The coin is probably worth $10. To ask $79.99 for this coin is absolutely hilarious." What do you guys think? Am I an idiot, lol? Thanks Cory

Wow ... I had no idea this topic has reached 7 pages of discussion ... surely I have missed some opportunities to contribute. Sorry for that. Catching up with the most recent post ... Quote: What do you guys think? Am I an idiot, lol? Viewed the ebay auction and totally understand why the Morgan dollar could be considered a lowball ... although your price is a bit high IMHO. Way too much 13 hours work today to catch up on the entire thread ... I'll do my best to get there and add what I can as a true lowball fan. Believe I have somewhere around 30 or so PCGS PO01 coins spanning 5 coin series ... and to this day the only PCGS PO01 certified Walking Liberty half dollar. David

Ok, lets see if I got this correct. The more worn a coin is with date legible the better. Does this count? This is an interesting subject. So does it qualify?
