I finally after almost 15 years decided to do a little CRH. I went to my local bank and pick up $10 in pennies and found the following 1970 D LMC, to me it looks like a letter inside the D mintmark and also to the right side of D (see arrows), also think there is another D under them (see other arrow).

need opinions

Not seeing anything sorry. Just the way the penny looks I think. Keep on trying though..Plenty of goods out there still.

Can't see anything there either. Do you definitely see "something"?

I see both. The D looks like the more probable of the two, but I think both are optical 'delusions'. Pretty cool though and amazing that you saw 'both' items.

If it were punching from the mint mark punch, it would be raised. Its not. Probably a stain.

I'm no expert, but I think it could be a die clash or something. Your bottom "D" looks like a B. (EDIT the B is to the left of the other D, my apologies.) Left of it diagonally up is an I. Left of that diagonally up is an L. I see L I B going diagonally down. Maybe another coin clashed or hit it. One of the more experienced people may know.

You have to zoom all the way in on the picture to see it anyone who is looking. Draw an imaginary line going diagonally up and to the left from the "B" and you'll see the other two letters. Close together but wider space apart than normal Liberty. The bottom of the L is right at the middle of the I to the left of it.

The problem with that theory is that there is nothing that small that would happen during a clash in that area.
