This is my first early copper purchase..
Knowing nothing about these, I purchased it on eye appeal.
1803 1c (small date, large fraction)
Currently in an ANACS VF-20 holder.

Any thoughts on this one appreciated..
Thanks, -Ron

I think it is a very nice looking coon.

I like the grade and eye appeal.

And I know it would look better in my type set, than the one that
now fills the hole.
Rest in Peace

Nice large cent. Looks a bit better than a 20 to me. ..... S-258 variety I think.

Very nice! I think VF-20 is a bit conservative for this coin. Other than the hit on Liberty's bust, no distractions.

Definitely S-258, Small Date, Large Fraction. Rarity-1. A nice example with even, nicely toned surfaces. No blemishes. A pleasing all-round example of the variety.
Personally, I think a tad overgraded at VF20, but not by much, (i would like to see bit more leaf separation for the grade).

Thanks very much for the kind words, was just checking if I missed anything.

Using the completed auctions at HA, GC & the Bay as a rough guide,
I personally have it around F-15+ (S-258) with better overall eye appeal than many of the VF examples.
Interesting piece of history. Thanks again.
