Back in December the following comment was posted:
Ok, we have spent in the 10 days of this topic, $221.50, or an average of $22.15 per day. At this pace we will reach our goal around March or April of 2027. I wonder if I will be around then? I wonder if halves will still be in production then? Hang in there and stay tuned . . .
Here is the reason for how slow the progress showed up - some posters could not find the new challenge! I know that because I missed the new reference and it does not show on the recent posts list.
So as the resident Farmer handing out Half Dollars at Farmers Markets and locally over the last five weeks, since I finished up the previous challenge we have handed out $996 in halves and with the extra $365 that I contributed to the previous challenge beyond the zero, lets see the total. This shows what happens when a business uses them by policy. Also, interestingly most of the rolls that I have opened over the last five weeks have had more that 50% coins from the early 70's. Up until recently I saw very few of those in the rolls. Granted, for a time I was getting Federal Reserve rolls that were nearly all 2000D and 2001D back in the 2009/2010 timeframe but otherwise not too many that were that age. I assume it is pure luck, but maybe not.

By the way, last year I posted a question about Gold colored Kennedy half dollars and never received any answers. Were these plated by someone like the Franklin Mint? The year that I found was 1986. Any thoughts? This one is very well plated, covering all of the clad fully. Just curious, not thinking there is any particular value to the coin although it is pretty. Grant

Wow! It's only with your help that we can beat the dollar coin thread. Quote: Also, interestingly most of the rolls that I have opened over the last five weeks have had more that 50% coins from the early 70's Yeah- when I roll hunt I'd say about 50% of the coins are from the 70s, 35% from the 90s-2001 and 15% from the 80s plus a few NIFC. About the plated coin, those are fairly common and just done by whoever has access to the equipment. It's essentially PMD, but they are fun to find. I spent $1 today. $98,010
