G'day!
So, I have two piece of 20 Francs 2003 from Congo Dem. Rep.
I checked the printer issuer just to make sure I could sell/put one for swap. Both of them by printed by Hôtel des Monnaies, Kinshasa.

What I noticed though it that on one of the notes it says "Nôtel" instead of "Hôtel". Is this a common mistake, or is it a rare error? (Is is it just that my eyes are misleading me?

Please take a look for yourselves. I have distorted the colours in the pictures just to make the text clearer.

Pic. 1. Here it clearly says "Hôtel":
Rare-Error-Congo,-Dem.-Rep.?

Pic. 2. Here it appears to say "Nôtel":
Rare-Error-Congo,-Dem.-Rep.?

Does anyone know anything about this error?
Thanks!

Not an error. If you increase the magnification you will see that the H of Hotel is aligned just so with the underptint diagonal line that causes it to look like an N instead of an H.

I agree that it's the diagonal line playing tricks on your eyes.
