Not so...I used to spreadsheet ALL 33,000 LWC bulk purchases...every 1000, 5000, 500 batch was fully documented, percentages and all. To Overcome that addiction do the following:

1) Store all spreadsheet files in one folder
2) Have computer crash without backup
3) Spend two days cussing yourself out for #2
4) Vow never to do such a stupid waste of time as that again.

See, very easy. Been clean now for over six months!

Now whenever the urge hits, I write a book....

Hey all,
Did my last $100 box of 2017, and found this one:

The-Goal:-25,000-Rolls-Of-Nickels-All-Searchers-Welcome!

That makes 3 semi-key coins in the last 3 boxes (2 1938D's and 1 1939S).

No silver or buffalos, but found 25 pre-1960 coins. The other highlights were a 1940S, 1958P, and a 2009D. Also found 2 foreign coins (1 Krone from Norway and a 20 Pence from the UK).

@John77, this might be a crazy question and maybe I should research instead of asking but it's easier to ask
1. Your spreadsheet has two 1942 lines, why?
2. You also have 1938 as a Buffalo and also a Jefferson, why?
3. V nickels, you have many dates not listed, why?
4. Proof nickels, how can you tell if they are a proof coin?
Thanks in advance.
Steve

1. I have two 1942 lines so that it is easier to differentiate between the "normal" copper nickel coins and the 35% Silver ones as the Philadelphia mint made both kinds that year.
2. In 1938, Denver made both Buffalo and Jefferson nickels.
3. I didn't list the years for V nickels I haven't found to save space and make the spreadsheet more concise.
4. Proofs have a mirror surface. Also, for any nickel made after 1970, you simply need to see if there is an S mint mark as those were only made in Proof Sets.

THAT is impressive. Your coin looks to be about an AU-50 - very nice!. I went through almost 60,000 nickels in September, and did not find a single one of the 5 key dates. You've found 3 in 6,000 nickels!

As for me, I searched 88 rolls (3,720 coins) total including a box, finding 41 pre-60s (24 in box) including my silver ender (1942-S), 1943-S, 1946-S, & 1948-S, along with 10 2009-Ds (8 in box). 1983 and 1988 Canadian nickels were also amongst the rolls. Interestingly, my box had the same "12/19/17 Roberto" stamp as the one which only produced 11 pre-60s the other week.

Finished my first box of 2018:

13 pre-60's including a beautiful 1954 that I needed for my Dansco
1 2009 (P)
5 Canadians :(
and...
one dateless Buffalo! I was excited about that since it's my first Buffalo. (Granted, it's only the second box I've searched but still...)

Good finds, Jaunty Turtle! You should try to "pickle" your Buffalo. Most of the time, with some perseverance, you'll be able to get the date.
