Went through 80 rolls today... ended up with 34 pre-60s and 5 2009-Ds. Amongst the finds was my 2nd key date Jefferson of the year, a 1939-S, along with a 1936 Buffalo, a 1949-S, and a 1974-S Proof. Always nice when you see a pre-40 Jefferson show up obverse first, and you flip it over to find a mint mark!
Excellent finds!

Nice find! Those don't show up very often at all!

Thanks, aristarchus! Living on the West coast has its perks. Believe it or not, that's my 13th one found as I approach 900K nickels searched in 22+ months.

Great finds. I've been through 9 boxes this year and haven't found a buffalo yet.

Thanks, shotgung! I've been finding Buffaloes at a better rate than usual so far this year. The really odd thing is they have been in really nice condition for the most part.

My uncle brought an old bank bag of nickels to me. They belonged to HIS uncle. He found them in his attic and gave them to me for my birthday. It looks like they were put away in approximately 1964. I see dozens of UNC 63 and 64s. Also found a 58 black beauty. I think a couple of the 64s may have full steps. Most of the rest are 40s and 50s.

Edit: forgot to mention there were a half dozen buffaloes (1913 type 1, 1920P, 1927P 3 dateless) and a fairly nice 1909 V.

Nice finds folks! Bump - look closely at the early 60s coinage for DDO / DDR. There are a number of them and with light/no wear, you could have a valuable coin there. Good luck!

Nice find of that 38-D in your box, shotgung! And 31 pre-60s in a box is a lot!

And congrats, Bump111! Love those stories!

As for me, got a little behind in reporting...
On 1/25 went through 1760 coins... found 22 pre-60s including a 1951-S and a 1958 (strangely in the same MWR along with a 1953). Also found 2 2009-Ds
On 1/26 also went through 1760 coins... only found 9 pre-60s, but one was a 1916 Buffalo. Also found 2 2009-Ds, and a nice little clipped planchet 1979 coin!

Nice picks as well John. I find when searching rolls, if I find one that's older it's along with more old ones. Interesting how that happens.

Early, century-old Buffalo nickels are hard to find! Very nice.

I think I have gone a week without looking at any rolls. I need to remedy this quickly!

Yeah, it's very sporadic for me, honestly. For example, I got a batch of 25 S&S rolls the other day from one of my banks... the first 12 rolls I looked at did not have a single pre-60... but there were 11 of them in the last 13 rolls!

Yes... 102 years young. Very hard to find dated Buffalo nickels that old!

I went 6 days (Jan 17-22) without going through rolls to organize stuff. Needless to say, I missed it a lot! Tonight, I will hit 900,000 nickels searched in 22 months!

1/27: 1800 searched, 19 pre-60s including a 1945-D. Also found a nice 2009-P, 3 2009-Ds and my latest dated proof, a 2012-S.
1/29: 2520 searched, only found 12 pre-60s. I did a box and it only had 10, tying for my worst box ever! Did find 4 2009-Ds.

And with that, I am now at exactly 900,000 nickels searched! 100K to go to 1M!
