Is anything going on here other than the standard Machine Doubling or post-mint damage?

In some places the coin looks normal to me, but in others it seems like pretty strong doubling (especially in IGWT...the W moreso than anything else)

Nope. Just a late die state circulated 1958D cent with circulation damage.
