in 40 years a lot of things can happen to a coin. I assume it was probably exposed to a chemical or left outside for an extended period. maybe lost in the yard or driveway for a winter? some sort of environmental damage is my guess.

i studied photography in high school, and went to college for film making. I used to always carry an slr camera with me until I got my galaxy. I can shift the focus on the phone lens and it takes such sharp pictures. I love it.

Environmental damage. Maybe a metal detector find.

I have found coins like this on the beach and in yards... it only takes a couple of years for it to turn like this.

Looks like something that should be in a Star War movie.
