At least the reverse of the note is nicer: The purple 50 Brazilian Cruzeiros banknote was printed by the American Banknote Company. It is dedicated to the Golden Law (Lei Aurea) adopted on 13 May 1888, that abolished slavery in Brazil. The law was signed by Princess Isabel, who is depicted on the front side of the cinqüenta cruzeiros banknote. The back side features Lady Liberty with broken chains and crown with seven spikes, holding fasces, very similar to the Statue of Liberty in New York. Report this Post to the Staff
