AU 58 and obviously earlier die state of the VAM-23C. The 23 series sure is a mess, and I did not help any with my latest submission and new variety ;)

I would say this is technically a VAM 23, but I would call it a VAM-23C EDS if it was in my collection since it is obviously of the same pairing. Die study tends to make me think in this manner... EDS/LDS of a given pairing. VAM-23 "Multiple die pairs exist for this VAM designation."

Thanks all for your input. All these different VAM types is somewhat confusing to someone relatively new to the industry. However it has peek an interest for myself. I will acquire the "Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia of Morgan and Peace dollars" in the near future.
