I compared Coop's picture side by side with mine and it's close. The 7 almost looks below the 0, but the 9 looks right.

I would call it a small date too. The loop of the 9 curls in a bit, all digits of the date are nearly even at top, and the 7 and 0 are the same at the bottom. Another key is the S (mint mark). The large date is closer to the 9 and 7. The spacing on the one in the pic looks right for a small date, but you can't always go on the mint mark position because it can shift around a bit. You can also look at the word Liberty and compare the two (although that's a bit tricky).

I would be leaning toward a smal date.

It is a little easier to tell when you have them side by side.

Also I like to see how "Liberty" on a small date it is more "mushy"
On the small date .. More bold/clear on large date.

It's a small date for sure. Great find! I found one a couple months ago in circulation. Exciting!

Small date. End of 9 loop is pointed and the mintmark location, farther from the 9 than the large date, is pretty much a dead giveaway.

Looks good!

Could you post pic of the whole obverse and a close up of "LIBERTY"?

Here is the full obverse and close up of Liberty. The coin is quite dirty.
