I have a 1941D Jefferson nickel graded by NGC as MS67 6FS. Not sure how rare this is. Is 6 step much better than 5? Can anyone help?

There have only been 77 graded by NGC, so it certainly isn't a common date or grade and none have been graded higher by NGC.

Finding a buyer who is putting together a registry set is your best bet for selling, if you are looking to sell.

It's a top pop, so it could well sell for a better premium with a really great strike like that. At one point NGC would only apply the "FS" designation to specimens with 6 full steps. They changed this to the "5FS" and "6FS" designations some 10-12 years ago to better align with the hobby.

I'm drooling all over myself just from the brief description that you gave about this coin.

I WANT TO SEE PICTURES!! NOW!!

BTW, this is a choice specimen and you have a very valuable coin. Just in case you haven't figured this out yet.

Thanks for posting those images! That's a great explanation and illustration of FS Jeffersons.

Thanks for the explanation Coop!
Are the modern nickels with full steps valuable too? I found a couple and threw them back into the back to the bank pile.

Don't worry HT. Tons of FS specimens amongst the moderns. That said keep your eye out for the best you find. As some of us do, keep a few for each date/mm and exchange them for the better ones you will find during a CRH event.
Rest in Peace

These might not be modern jeff's but the 68-D & 69-D is almost impossible to find in Full Steps.
