What is Canadian Coins VIP program, Does it cost to join. How would you rate it Loony. I know they give points, I have only bought from the store a couple times during sales. I buy from all over, so collector points don't really help. I buy mainly when I can get free shipping. I am more loyal to the mint & Canada Post. I am spoiled and dislike paying shipping on a single purchase. Most sellers don't do a $100 hike straight away. I just hope this coin looks great without any glow function. I'm not a person that views coins by flashlight. It took me 4 days to decide to take the plunge.

I live within 15 min of driving from CC&C, so from time to time I pick some coins up there.
Their VIP program is similar to RCM's, you just buy coins there. Though you have to register first for VIP, I guess. I already forgot how it happened.

@ pocket change. I'm not a huge fan of Canadian coins VIP program. You have to spend a grand before you earn the privilege to begin saving at all. Even after VIP status is achieved, the discount on decent coins isn't significant.

The only major benefit to being a VIP are the discounts on Accessories and supplies.

pocket change 50,

VIP members are the first to get notice of new coins (just like RCM and other dealers). They also offer good sales on RCM products. I've picked up a few nice coins at half price lately. For example, I like the hologram Interconnections coins, but refused to pay the issue price of $114.95. I bought two of them for 1/2 price. There were a couple of nice Russian Sochi coins offered at smokin' good prices, too.

They also offer supplies, nice cases, etc, at very competitive prices.

If you collect mostly RCM coins and supplies, I'd say it's worth it.

Another bonus is free shipping on $100 orders.

So would people say, Canadian Coin has one of the better reward programs, for those who spend 1k. Is it 1k on a yearly basis to stay in the program. I'm always trying to compare who offers the best value. Its why I hop around from seller to seller. When did they start offering the program. I do like their selection of quality cases. I appreciate all the replies.

The collector credits also are a benefit, VIP member or otherwise. You might find the link that MoneyPenny posted above to be helpful - program eligibility is whenever a buyer reaches $1000 in purchases.

Rec'd my GITD coin- at first I was disappointed (only green lights with very dark background). I then thought to give it another try and use an LED flash light for a longer period time (1 min. is longer than you think-lol) and close-up- AMAZING! The longer( > 1 min.) I left the light on and focused on the different areas, the more intense the colours/whole effect was even in low ambient light ( i.e not a totally dark room). .
I think it would be diffcult to take a picture with a regular camera. I'm happy.

@Cash03 can you do a pic of just the ordinary coin, its what I am most interested in. My order is still processing. I haven't found a real image anywhere. Its a good thing to explain it needs a bit longer to charge up. I think this was the case for the GITD dino coins. I bought the second dino coin, the third was a nicer image.

How many GITD coins has the RCM released to date. I have lost count.

If anyone is interested and lives nearby, there is one available at the Post Office in the Hallmark Store at Billings Bridge Mall in Ottawa. At least there was one when I glanced at their coins on Monday evening. $189 was the price. As I do not have the first coin in the series, I am not interested in the second, so passed on it.

Surprise they got anything there. My wife used to work at the food court and I would go there while waiting to pick her up. Never saw anything interesting there

I check the post office at Billings from time to time. I have piked up items of note there in the past. For example, I obtained two each of the 2007 silver snowflakes, an immediate windfall given that they were sold out online, and had risen in price considerably. They usually don't have too much as they only have a small collection, but on that rare occasion ....

Well my coin arrived at 10 Am this morning! . I couldn't wait til it got dark at 5:30 pm to play with my coin! I like it more than I expected. I started looking over the beautifully done beauty box. It does add to the appeal. There is a raised design of the wolves. Then I proceed to the queen side, not as impressed, it has those wavy lines. They aren't as distracting as the Voyaguer dollar. Good thing I'm not interested in this side.

The wolfs are blacker than I expected. The paint looks like there is some texture on it. Reading the COA, it's a Baffin Island scene, my father did off shore oil drilling in early seventies in the area, so an added connection for me. The purples are not as prominent as I feared. The colours are beautiful, more than I had hoped!

Now the glow function is astounding, you feel apart of the scene! Absolutely stunning color effect. The northern lights come alive and the blues of the snow start to glow vibrant. I charged it with my phone flashlight for 1.5 mins, it was hard to wait!!

Here are some pics, which do this coin a disservice!

The glow photo was with no flash in darkish room. I need to do more experimenting to get a better glow photo. I forgot to add the coin has a nice heft to it. I really like the larger canvass of 2 Oz.

I am sorry, I didn't see my phone rotated my picks on the upload. I don't know it how to do it from the computer.
