Quote: I find it interesting the new ways the mint have chosen to market their coins. But why do you think, that this is RCM account, and not let's say some US dealer who works with RCM? The Mint will not sell by itself any portion of the mintage via ebay. Except this, that ebay store so purely done, that I really doubt about RCM as owner. According to the rumors, agree, no proof, except the written in the thread it was "Some German dealer" commissioned "Autumn Bliss". Yes, people still pay for it above the issue (probably), but it just gone without being remembered.

@Silveroid if you click on the ebay ad number Mikesnickname gave, it takes you to the ad by RCM. The body of the ad, it says the RCM storefront ships in 2 days from payment. It also has an about us section that describes the mint. Look at the description, its very elaborate for a private seller. Mike will know if his coin is sent from the RCM, when it arrives. He will be able to confirm or not. They sold 30 coins, which would be pricy for a private seller. Their sale of $20 for $20 is also in the hundreds, this also backs it up being the mint. They also use their logo in the ad. No one else would be so cheeky to us the mints logo! They ship from Canada by Fed Ex. Check the ad out for yourself. Why should they be different from other big retailers.

I'm pretty sure that this ebay account belongs to RCM's US warehouse. RCM doesn't ship each coin to US customers. Instead they ship a bulk of the coins to US located warehouse and distribute coins from it. It's a normal practice. The problem is when the main warehouse is out of coins, but US based warehouse is not. What to do? They don't want to ship them back. Perhaps it is not worth it because it's too expensive or by any other reason. So the bottom line is that they can't sell these coins from Mint's website and the only way to get rid of them is to sell them exclusively to US customers through ebay. Hence that's this account is for.

These two finds / thoughts, I assuming probably the situation. @Pocket_change: yes, I understand your thoughts, but probably MTS nailed it..... I find ebay as a market, when the user (seller / buyer) able to use any banners, pictures, whatever. But the phone, truth, leads to " RCM US"

Not convinced this is not the Official RCM ebay store. I doubt RCM would allow their logo, descriptions and their U.s telephone number to be used if it wasn't theirs. Even their store name is royal_canadian_mint

Even their store name is royal_canadian_mint Digital stuff you can use (steal) whatever you want. Till the first warning. RCMs pictures / logo you can not officially use on ebay or Kijiji. The phone - yes, just no reason to use. But whoever really want to know - just drop the mail to your Rep. Bottom line, MTS is correct. But this account refers to RCM similar as Official Car Dealer refers to the Car brand / Manufacturer.

Funny hair that works.... They sold out once, the mint sold out, the shopping channel sold out before it aired. All of a sudden they have some more for sale. But wait we'll have to put the price up a bit. The 2 that I ordered should be here Monday.

They're selling x for x coins at face value. No dealer I know of does this. They also offer free shipping on said coins.
Its a pretty safe bet that it's their official site.
I'll take a picture of the shipping label from package when I get it, after the drive to Niagara falls :(

I just checked Canadian Coins listing and I could only put 4 coins in the cart. One would think they had 2k coins. This coin for better or worse is creating some buzz. Some like color and some don't. As John 100 says, we need some buzz back in the hobby. We are seeing some buzz with the big coins,2 oz voyageur, poppy & flag quarters, and the premium coin case. This is all good for the hobby. It has been stale for a couple of years. Excitement is needed to get collectors interested again.

The first coin, the Firefly, was available to VIP members for $189.95 until a about a week ago. This second coin is now available to VIP members for $289.95, the same price as for everyone else. Does anyone remember if they raised the first coin to $289.95 for VIP members immediately after release, like this second one, or did they drop the price by $100 to VIP members after a few months to move the coin? Just curious. The timing looks like typical business strategy. They observe demand for what appears to be a hot coin, and then wait a while to see if they can soak up another $100 profit. I'm very curious to see if they drop the coin back to $189.95 for VIP members in a few months. You can buy one on ebay for about $225 plus shipping (or less), so the sudden price hike at CC&C must be a test to see how many suckers they can reel in.
