I would guess its a bag nick from another coin. It is were on the other side of the 8 (1st one) then I would agree. Usually they mess up that side. But anything can happen.

The 1988 is not coin counter damage. It is a hit from another object, likely not another coin.

The 1941 is coin counter damage.
