SPP I have to agree with you. I'm an avid PL Set collector and since 1961 there are only 5-6 sets that I know of starting in a 1986 set with a 1985 nickle in it. The term used for this set is the [Parent set] from the Canadian Uncirculated Set book. The problem is the Mint pushed out all these sets in 2016 flooding the market with the hardest error set to own. To me with around 6 of these sets already found there just a variety set to me now!!

Here is another type of erroneous PL set... the 1-cent is clipped. I also have a 1969 PL set with the nickel dollar clipped.

Question....Given the opportunity, would anyone trade a 1973 large bust proof like set for a 2016 packaging error set? Based on the early valuations being given to the 2016 error set it appears that some individuals believe that the 2016 set is more valuable than the 1973 set. Personally I am not of that opinion.

Love the 1967 PL set SPP-Ottawa. That set with the clip is one I would enjoy owning. The 1967 is my favourite PL set.

The item was sold "for best offer", anyone know how to see what the best offer was?

I can see four ebay listings now for this error set. I suspect there will be more.

I'd pay at most double the issue price for this set. Anything beyond that is insane.

I tend to agree with you CoinCanuck. I did offer someone $50.00 for a set and got turned down. I don't blame him for refusing the offer given the $500 selling price we are seeing online.

That is a no-brainer. I would always take the coin over a packaging error...

I agree SPP-Ottawa. I would take the coin over a packaging error. That is why I believe people have lost perspective given the asking price of a 2016 error set versus the asking price of a 1973 large bust proof like set. The 1973 large bust set is currently selling in the $250-$350 range.

I hope the mismatched 2016 set might open the door to greater interest in other sets and varieties. The hobby needs to attract more people so if it's through uncirculated sets, that's an excellent place to begin in my opinion.

I have sold maybe 6 different uncirculated sets with packaging errors....its fairly common I believe.

Sold a war of 1812 set with a flipped queen, sold an arctic set were all the coins were bu and non were frosted where they are supposed to be half and half

Sold a war of 1812 set where there was an extra colored 25 cent in with the frosted ones

even sold one where the coin was missing!! haha..

Just got to look for them, they are around....I suspect there are a fair amount of these 2015 in 2016 sets out there....sell them while they are hot!!!

Foolish uneducated buyer of this packaging error for $500.
Wouldn't surprise me the least bit if he/she returns it for a refund after seeing the price drop dramatically over the next few days for these packages
The Devil is in the detail for this sale.
