I went to a small coin show today with high hopes of finding a nice Ike to add to my ever growing collection. There was one nice Ike error, an Ike struck on a half. I couldn't come to an agreement with the dealer so it still is in the dealers case.

I did manage to pick up 2 new cents though.

They are both very impressive pieces. Too bad you couldn't get the Ike.

I'll get the Ike eventually. The dealer had a very impressive assortment of coins, but I showed him a few pictures on my phone of some items I've been thinking of liquidating and his eyes lit up a little. He had 3 1856 flying eagles on his table so getting his attention made me feel a little proud.

Impressive. The woody is nice, but that red beauty is awesome.

Thanks. I really wish I had taken more cash with me because there was a 1914D in MS65RD. It was marked at $16,000 but I'm sure there was some wiggle room in that price.

I'm jealous not 1 but 2 S-VDB's in one day.
I've been collecting for over 50 years and I still don't have one.

I actually was walking around the floor with it for the last hour of the show debating if I should buy it or not. The dealer was packing up and I threw out an offer and he accepted, so now it's mine. I'm thinking about getting it reslabbed PCGS or just flip it.

Yes, as others have said, those are some serious consolation prizes, and one of the "woodiest" S-VDB's I have seen. Thanks for the last picture; I was going to ask if you minded telling how that one graded. I'm always curious to see how the grading services evaluate woodies. I am far from a grading expert, but I think a reasonable person could argue that it's undergraded by a point or two.
