We care! I wish I were in Kansas for this... it would be a great Easter egg hunt.

We have our first hit! My son (who knows about this project) came home excited from school today. It seems that yesterday his best friend (who does NOT know about the project) went to the car wash and was so struck by one of the quarters she got from the car wash change machine that she mentioned it to my son, describing how neat it was to find a new quarter that stood out from the old grimy ones otherwise dispensed by the machine. It was a shiny brand new Saratoga-S quarter. "I didn't know they named quarters after battles" was her comment. She is a history buff like my son and wanted him to know that they were making quarters "about battles" now. I note that this car wash is about 500 feet from the Starbucks where I have spent numerous of these Saragota-S coins. My guess is that someone got it in change from Starbucks, then went to the car wash and spent the coin, putting it into the car wash coin flow. Unless there is someone else out there putting Saratoga-S coins into circulation. But that seems less than likely.

While neat, I could not justify the loss I would take each time I spent one.

Well I figured I would get enough enjoyment from the idea to make the loss worthwhile...would I get $15 (mint premium plus shipping) of amusement from doing this? Yes. Less than it would cost to go to a movie and enjoyment would last longer.
That said, it is not something I can afford to do very often.
