I have a 1985-D dime,on both sides has the frost cameo finish that you find on proof coins has any body come across other coins like this.

I've never seen anything quite like it but have seen cameo like clads.
I have to suspect it was altered by sandblasting.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

I don't see any cameo finish. For a cameo, the backgrounds should be mirror like. Sorry to say, but that's just a normal circulated dime.

The surface is smooth to the touch but I am not sure how to explain how the surface looks to me like a matte maybe like the other person said sandblasted look with a frost color but it couldn't have been sandblasted or maybe like a satin finish except they didn't do that in 1985 but hopefully I will figure it out I just love finding weird coins like I have an uncirculated 2005 nickel in an unopened set that has no polish.

Only the dies that made the proof sets were overly polished. Dies for normal business strikes were not polished, they were cleaned, and sometimes sanded to remove defects. These are considered cameos:

I know what a cameo is I was just using the wording to explain how it looks in color, cameo has a frost look I have around 20 or more proof sets,i am just trying to figure out what happened to a business strike die to give the coin that type of look

From the edge of the coin it looks like the die might have been worn.so if they sanded it to try and get some more strikes out of it that might be why the surface looks like it does but what would cause the frost looking color.i can only explain because the pics aren't showing what I see,you can see a little on the reverse at the bottom where it has some toning but still not a good pic

My only guess would be that the coin is worn from circulation.
