On the forum home page. At the top of the coin forum list, it has the section Coin community rules.
In that section it breaks down all the do's and don'ts
Not sure how long the restriction is for new members doing eMail, but I think some members can choose not to get mail. And there might be something about having to turn mail option on.

The only thing they need to clarify is what a "new member" is, for email access. There have been a few people I would like to contact about buying/selling, and I don't know how long until I am not longer new.

It would probably go for around 250 on ebay.

Any thoughts on my Counterfeit Detection concerns? Was hoping GR58, jwitten, and others who are intimately familiar with this series might have some opinions (in reference to the PCGS article I linked): Indian Head Quarter Eagles - King of the Counterfeit Gold Coin Series! http://www.PCGS.com/News/Indian-Hea...it-Gold-CoinMuch appreciate any thoughts on this.

Just now read the article, thanks for posting that.
It does show there is good reason to be concerned.
And may be a good argument to buy slabbed coins.
In the past I have sent in a few gold coins to get graded. So far the ones I have sent have all came back authentic.
We do have what is considered by all in this area a expert on gold coins. He comes to some of the coin shows. We do use him sometimes for another opinion for small gold.
I guess what I would suggest for you, buy slabbed coins and find some local experts to verify your purchases. If you have a local coin shop that knows gold coins and will back up his sales .. that might be another option.

I do not have any books or guides to follow, like the PCGS link (good info there though). Since this is my main area of collecting, I have gotten a decent feel for them (not perfect though). I have never had an indian I've sent in to grade come back fake, and I have sent several groups of 10-20 at a time in. I have received some purchased off ebay that I felt were fakes, so returned them. Those were usually with poor pictures by the seller. These pictures are good enough that I am fairly confident it is genuine.

Here was my last round I sent in to ANACS when they had a cheap special. I had already picked my best to send in to NGC.. these were my second tier group.

Good advice. Thank you both. I think like any series it likely comes down to looking at enough coins to develop the ability to discern what just looks off. I do like the idea of the capital plastics holder but then again slabs will provide peace of mind. I'll see what my LCS has to say...when/if gold calms down a bit.

Nice looking group of gold.
I am thinking you really enjoy getting your coins back in their new slabs.

JW, what did your group of QEs grade in at? Do you have recent pics of the results?

Let's play a little guess the grade before I post the grades. Here is an example of an ANACS I currently own (don't think it was one I sent in). Any guesses on grade? Remember, this is anacs, not NGC or PCGS, so guess accordingly.

And here is an NGC MS63 I own for comparison.

I am no where near a expert in grading these.
But the first one looks to be a better grade.
I would guess MS 65, would not be surprised at MS 66.
Of course .. with not enough experience grading gold. I could be way off.

I'm guessing ANACS graded that first coin at MS-63. I agree the first one looks better than the second.
I'm a novice so no idea how ANACS grades compared to NGC/PCGS, so please enlighten me.
