Costume piece is a good thought. The RDV looks fake; font is too narrow and the Memorial design incorrect. Especially for a 90s vintage coin. While the rolls appeared to have been solid, I concur with the others that unless it had the mint/bank wrappers (old bank wrappers), then they are mixed third party cents (from Loomis). It also appears that there may have been glue on the obverse.

My other thought is that it might be a game piece or magic kit coin. Anyway, it doesn't look legit to me.

I really appreciate every ones input it made me look at the coin closer than I had years ago, after everything I don't think it is a split planchet, but I still think it is a mint error of some kind being that the size of it is a little different than a regular penny and how the image on the reverse looks,i guess my next step will be to send it off and pay someone that will hopefully be able to tell me more about it.but I do really appreciate a good debate thank you every body and it may take a couple months but when I find out more I will post an update.if anybody knows a good place besides a grading company please let me know I would prefer someplace that deals with just error coins.

Before you put money into this piece please compare it to other coins.
Ultimately the decision is yours.

Thank you stoneman now that could make sense of fashion jewelry, they do use a lot of coins and designs for that but the edge looks just like a penny planchet edge but I will know for sure after I send it off and get it back,i just can't see with fashion jewelry it would way a point gram less than a penny but you never know about how companies make things.

Thank you rackster your correct companies do make that kind of stuff but it just looks so much like a planchet on the edge that I think it will be worth sending it off to know for sure.until you guys said fashion jewelry and magic coin I had never gave it that thought so I can't fully rule that out because I know companies can make stuff look real,i just couldn't see an individual doing it but thank you everyone

It's amazing what you will find on a CRH event. I've gotten plastic battery caps, plastic game tokens, Magician's coin (double heads), and even a gold piece. Others have gotten silver necklaces and more recently, a ring of some kind. Stuff gets mixed in, by chance or by desire, and we searchers find it.

My advice Kevin: keep it in the flip it's in and somewhere handy to look at every once in a while. Give it a few weeks and keep thinking about it, learning here, and then make a decision to send it out or not. You might rethink your tactics and not send it or become more convinced about what you have. Nothing lost by waiting a bit. Good luck!!

Thank you for the site pete,i called ken potter several months back before I started getting on the internet and he told me he wasn't verifying coins for me to send an email and he would pass it along to someone that would get back with me,no one got back with me so I wasn't going to bother him with anymore emails I figured I would look around some where else.
