I'd sure like to get out and hit the lake fronts this February - tons of rings still waiting to be found. With these winter thaws going on it's a great time to hit it!

I hear you, I can't wait! But The only beaches around me are on rivers and the shores arent where they were 50 years ago because they flooded the river for a power darn. I have way better luck at old farm houses around here. What part of the US are you in?

Here in Minnesota we still have 3-4 months to go before we can dig an inch.

@Nickbxtr I too like the old Farmhouses, although I'm skunked on typically three out of four, as the farmers usually didn't have much money around here to lose. What I really like are the hard-hit trashy areas like parks and fairgrounds; that's where a lot of my silver scores are made.

I'm in lower Michigan by the way.

Can't wait for the weather to break found 3 silver rings in old Boy Scout camp grounds with my Garrett Pro, but just bought an ETrac for land hunting. Can't wait to use it on some of the beaches and farms.

I hit the lakefront on a new pounded spot over the weekend. Temps in the mid 40's and no snow. Took my Etrac out and found a couple wheats. Broke out my old Explorer 2, which gets better depth over the Etrac, and proceded to dig a silver rosie and eight more wheats. I really like the Explorer 2, just follow the cursor around the screen and it's not as erratic as the Etrac.
